An interdisciplinary analysis and its application to present challenges have not yet been undertaken. Until today, privacy has always been regarded as a residuum. Throughout the Research Training Group’s research activities, the private and its relation to the non-private will be considered as culturally, historically and socially formed. The Research Training Group will thus reconstruct the concept of privacy with the overall aim of a comprehensive theory of privacy, describing its parameters and interaction with other concepts. The structured academic program equally provides its graduates with core academic skills, thematic expertise and the ability to work in an interdisciplinary context. By means of further qualification the program supports participants’ personal development and helps them succeed in a competitive labor market. Supported by academic and non-academic supervisors, participants are enabled to complete their individual research projects quickly and successfully.
