PhD Studentship – Development of ultrafast lasers and photonic systems for novel bio-molecular imaging techniques, University of Dundee, UK

Study Subject(s) :D evelopment of ultrafast lasers and photonic systems for novel bio-molecular imaging techniques Course Level :P hD Scholarship Provider: the Ultrafast Photonics Group and and the Lamond Lab, based at the Wellcome Trust Centre for Gene Regulation and Expression Scholarship can be taken at: UK

Eligibility: Applications are invited from highly-motivated students holding a degree in Physics, Biophysics, Electronic Engineering, or related disciplines. Applicants should have a strong interest in lasers and photonic systems and in pursuing an interdisciplinary project.

Scholarship Open for International Students: Yes

Scholarship Open for Students of Following Countries: UK and EU Students

Scholarship Description: The aim of this interdisciplinary project is to develop a new generation of ultrafast lasers and photonic systems which will enable a novel approach for bio-molecular imaging – with an emphasis on the investigation of intracellular molecular interactions. The investigation of such interactions is essential to determine basic gene regulatory mechanisms and to identify molecular interactions disrupted in human disease. The novel techniques to be developed are also expected to have a deep impact in a wide range of other applications in biology and sensing.

How to Apply: Applicants are advised to contact Dr. Cataluna with a CV and contact details of two references (m.a.cataluna-at-dundee.ac.uk)
