About The Scholarship

  • Application for the Singapore Scholarship must be submitted on the prescribed application form (The application form and supporting documents must be of A4 size and printed on one side only). Please contact the Singapore Embassy/High Commission/Consulate-General in your capital city for a copy of the Singapore Scholarship brochure and application form. You may click here for a softcopy of the application form for AY 09/10.

    Applicants will be required to submit a typed-written essay of about 300-500 words. The essay is an important part of your application.

    All supporting documents have to be attached. Those supporting documents that are not in English must have a certified translation in English. Translation and certification of transcripts and academic records have to be done by your educational institutions.

    Applications must be endorsed and submitted by their respective ASEAN Governments. The relevant agencies to endorse the application are:

    Late and incomplete applications will not be considered. Documents submitted separately from applications will also not be considered.

    Please also note that most shortlisted nominees will  take the entrance examinations set by NTU or NUS. All shortlisted nominees will also have to undergo an interview conducted by interviewers from NTU , NUS and SMU. The entrance examinations and interviews will be conducted in the respective ASEAN countries.

  • The decision of the Singapore Government on the selection of Singapore Scholarship recipients is final.


Who Is Eligible

Citizens of ASEAN member countries (except Singapore) are eligible to apply for the Singapore Scholarship.

Candidates must have an outstanding academic record, a good command of English and meet the entry requirements for NTU, NUS and SMU. They are:

Brunei Darussalam
– completed General Certificate of Education Advanced Level with a pass in   English and 3 other ‘A’ level subjects

Cambodia
– currently undergoing 1st year or 2nd year of undergraduate studies in a   local Cambodian university

Indonesia
– completed Indonesia SMU Ujian Akhir Nasional (UAN)

Lao People’s Democratic Republic
– currently undergoing 1st year or 2nd year of undergraduate studies in a   local Laotian university

Malaysia
– completed Sijil Tinggi Persekolahan Malaysia (STPM)
– completed General Certificate of Education Advanced Level with a pass in   English and 3 other ‘A’ level subjects
– completed UEC examinations

Myanmar
– completed at least 1st year or 2nd year of undergraduate studies in a local   Myanmar university

Philippines
– currently undergoing 1st year or 2nd year of undergraduate studies in a   local Filipino university

Thailand
– completed Thai Mathayom 6 examinations

Vietnam
– currently undergoing 1st year or 2nd year of undergraduate studies in a   local Vietnamese university

Candidates have to complete the above requirements within a 3-year period prior to the date of application.

Singapore: 2 Postdoc positions Civil & Environmental Engineering NTU

The Environment and Water Industry Council (EWI) has awarded a project to be undertaken by the consortium of Nanyang Technological University (NTU), DHI‐NTU Centre, and Centre for Advanced Water Technology (CAWT). The project aims to optimize MBR plant operations and bioprocesses. Two Post‐Doctoral Fellow positions are sought for the project:

1) Post‐Doctoral Fellow #1
This Post‐Doctoral Fellow will perform Artificial Neural Networks (ANN) modeling and optimization of MBR plant operations. Duties include MBR plant operations data collection, data mining, ANN modeling, and system optimizations. The duration of the position is for 2 years.

Qualifications Required:

a) Ph.D. in related field
b) Experience in ANN modeling and non‐linear systems optimization
c) Strong publication record
d) Highly motivated

2) Post‐Doctoral Fellow #2
This Post‐Doctoral Fellow will perform duties that are divided under two categories:

i) Pilot‐scale MBR plant operations, testing, and optimization
ii) MBR process modeling software development
The duration of the position is for 2 years.

Qualifications Required:

a) Ph.D. in related field
b) Experience in MBR plant operations, optimization, and process modeling
c) Experience in MBR modeling software development
d) Strong publication record
e) Highly motivated
